Meals, snacks and drinks that meet the minimum food and drink benchmark

Fruit

  • fresh fruit, frozen and canned fruit in juice (not in syrup). Can be served frozen.
  • dried fruit - not coated.

Vegetables

  • fresh, frozen and canned vegetables.

Dips

  • example hummus, tzatziki and vegetable-based dips (e.g. beetroot, eggplant, avocado and salsa) including those packaged with plain, preferably wholegrain, crackers (if unsure, use crackers 3.5 stars and above).

Cheese

  • preferably reduced fat.

Yoghurt and custard (excluding coconut milk yoghurts)

  • preferably reduced fat.
  • excludes coconut-milk based yoghurts.
  • no added confectionery.

Plain savoury biscuits/crackers and crispbreads

  • preferably wholegrain (if unsure, use HSR 3.5 stars and above).

Popcorn (plain, air-popped)

  • do not add salt or butter.

Plain unsalted legume snacks

Bread, english muffin, crispbreads

  • preferably wholemeal, multigrain, white, rye, Turkish, Lebanese, lavash, focaccia, pita, tortillas, wraps, rolls, bagels, English muffins, crumpets, un-iced fruit bread and buns Includes gluten-free varieties.
  • bread may be toasted.

Scones, pikelets and pancakes

  • no added confectionery (e.g. no chocolate chips).
  • preferably plain
  • preferably wholegrain

Cereals (served with or without milk)

  • no sugary types, preferably wholegrain (if unsure, use HSR 3.5 stars and above).
  • no added confectionery.

Sushi/rice-paper rolls

  • Everyday food fillings

Eggs

  • boiled eggs, omelette rolls, frittata
